DEFA interior heater uses a PTC (PTC = Positive Temperature Coefficient) heating element which self adjusts the output power according to the inside temperature of the car.
A 20 C/68 F temperature increase will result in a 10% power reduction. As the interior temperature increases the power will gradually be reduced accordingly. The interior heater is equipped with an automatic over- temperature protection. If the system stops, simply unplug the power for 20 minutes to allow the system to reset.
As part of a WarmUp system, the Termini interior heater can be controlled via the DEFA app or the Futura control module. When not part of a WarmUp system, Termini 1000 is operated with an On/Off switch. It has one output setting: 1000W at -25 C. A PTC heating element ensures that as the interior temperature reaches target levels, power output and consumption is reduced.
The heater is equipped with an automatic overheating circuit breaker. This breaker is tripped at 55 C, and it is reset by disconnecting the plug and leaving the interior heater switched off until it cools down (about 30 minutes). There is also a lead fuse (+80 C) for additional protection. If this fuse is blown, the interior heater must be sent for repair.
